@fasterthanlime I was frantically adjusting all volume levels everywhere until I noticed the comment confirming it wasn't just me. :D
@fasterthanlime Cosigned. Yes, for selfish reasons, but cosigned all the same.
@fasterthanlime Oh right, caveat that Zig's plan as-is seems like it's gonna screw a lot of ppl who need C++ interop. I think something will need to be done about that. But I welcome the end of the LLVM monoculture.

@fasterthanlime oof, just started using this for game dev πŸ˜…

it’s a good idea but as folks are saying I hope some tooling sticks around for C++ cases even if it means installing a seperate Zig tool if you need that.

(apparently C code will continue to work though?)

@fasterthanlime If current Zig is just a macro system over a C/++ backend that doesn't bode well for Rust.

@fasterthanlime I just gained interest in Zig after watching a talk Andrew Kelley gave at Goto where he sells Zig on the fact it can do this exact thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXrb-DqsBNU

This got me so excited I then watched multiple talks on Zig where speakers also mention this as a selling point.

Now Kelley seems to be walking back but this is still so flaky.

A guy from Uber whose talk I just saw is in the issue comments saying how much it would screw him up. At the least it's a complete PR disaster
