Admin Settings: What is 'Listing Type'? - Lemmy.world

In the admin config, there is a section called ‘Listing Type’ with options for Local and All. What does this option do? I understand what ‘Type’ does in a users settings. It’s the default for what is shown on the home page. How is this different if it is at all?
