cybericYou can, but realize it is a system focused game and in my opinion has a high learning curve. I would also recommend the Steam version rather than the free version due to the texture pack. But the game is fully pausible and you can put it down and pick it up as needed.

Ok, I downloaded the steam version....wow, there is so much detail. I'll at least give it a go for an hour or two to see if I like it.
