Global warming has accelerated in the past decade. A new study found that the Earth’s energy imbalance, which measures the difference between the amount of solar radiation absorbed and the amount of heat radiated back into space, has doubled since 2005. This means that more heat is trapped in the atmosphere and oceans, leading to faster ice melting, rising sea levels, and more extreme weather events.
