I would agree that we were much more stringent on the oligopolies of the 1900s than we are in the current century of FANG bros...
Main reason is that most regulators don't wanna spend the time to learn the intricacies of tech. The other reason is that tech moguls are not looked upon as being maniacal as their standard oil/US steel peers - misguided. Lobbying money also has a lot to do with it.
