Got an email saying that my access to "Framagit" is being cut off… apparently I created my account using github oauth, and they're making everyone with an oauth account switch to having a regular passworded account… now this would all be very straightforward except for one problem… what is "Framagit". I don't remember ever even having heard of "Framagit". Why do I have an account on "Framagit"
I imagine like an old-timey prospector in the old west out behind the water tank, yelling "Framagit Carol! Now where is that gosh-wolloping hound!" "Framagit" in this context would be three syllables all stressed, like "Fra-ma-git".
@mcc Yosemite Sam As A Service
@mhoye @mcc Considering he's a hootin' tootin' bobcat, he's a natural mascot for Mastodon.
@mcc my next door neighbor actually talks like this
@mcc yosemite sam voice is just the reno/high sierra regional accent
@mcc apparently "Les inscriptions sur Framagit sont temporairement fermées en raison d’une importante vague de spam"
i'm not sure if that's related.
@Runner C'est compréhensible

@mcc Companies always be emailing me to let me know they changed the conditions of the service that I have no memory of and have no idea what they do.

Wish they'd at least introduce themselves, say what their service aims to achieve.

Still. The D button deletes quickly and it's right there on the home-row.

@mcc I assume it's framasoft's git host
(framasoft is the organization that develops peertube among other things iirc)
@easrng Filing a bug on peertube sounds like something I'd do but I don't remember doing it. Maybe they were involved in that one unconference I spoke at
@mcc Framagit is part of the Framasoft project - framasoft.org/en/ - I have no idea why you got it - but they are good people and do a bunch of stuff?
Framasoft

Framasoft is a not-for-profit popular educational organization, a group of friends convinced that an emancipatory digital world is possible, convinced that it will arise through actual actions on real world and online with and for you!

@silverwizard I guess I must have sent them a pull request at some point then forgotten about it

@mcc I searched for it out of morbid curiosity... first thing that popped up was a gitlab site with a pile of mostly French open source projects. The most notable project I saw on the list was Peertube.

Maybe it's some random Fediverse thing? 🤷

Edit: https://framagit.org/framasoft/peertube/PeerTube

@mcc I’ve had that experience with some services that got bought and incorporated into another, or just renamed themselves.
