Another update on next generation Covid vaccines - with a lot to report from the last month!

Some highlights: In clinical trials, there's phase 3 data from an inhaled vax in China, & a US phase 1 trial for an intranasal vax is expanding. So is the one for the Cambridge Uni pancoronavirus vax.

On the preclinical front, there's good news for a pancoronavirus vax from France & an intranasal one from Germany.

This Month's Progress in Next Generation Covid Vaccines (Update 8) - Absolutely Maybe

Next generation vaccines are already varying from each other a lot, just as the first generation did. However, there are several ways…

Absolutely Maybe

📣 *Massive* Covid vaccine development on the starting blocks!

A major global drug company has teamed with scientific heavyweights for a pancoronavirus vax:

Sanofi + SPRI, NIH, WRAIR.

I keep mentioning WRAIR's pancoronavirus vax efforts (US Army) (my latest post above ⬆️).

SPRI is a new group formed in Dec 2022, bringing the Sheba coronavirus research team from Israel into collaboration with US NIH https://sheba-global.com/sheba-partners-with-the-u-s-national-institutes-of-health-to-establish-a-pandemic-preparedness-research-institute/

Here's the announcement from SPRI:

@hildabast are mRNA vaccines still as sexy as they were at first? They were very hyped for a while there

@hildabast Dr. Bastian -- Thank you so much for staying on top of vaccine news!

FYI, the link in the sentence "Finally, the Dutch government is privatizing its vaccine manufacturer, Intravacc." is broken. I think you want
https://www.intravacc.nl/news/dutch-state-announces-the-sale-of-intravacc-b-v-the-netherlands/

Thanks!

@ducky Thanks - and thanks! (Link had cut and pasted something before the https - fixed now)

@hildabast And in this sentence: "I’ve also added a pair of previous preclinical studies I’d missed – one publication from and a conference poster from February this year." I think you are missing the date of the first study (1 Sept 2021).

Thanks!

@hildabast @PLOS #CovidIsNotOver. The research community is on the job.
@hildabast so glad someone pointed out this blog of yours to me, I need to make it regular reading to help keep my hopes up. Technical question, I can’t find a way to subscribe to it anywhere on the blog page, if there is a way to subscribe I would like to so I don’t miss any, thank you.

@Squish Thanks! Glad you find it helpful.
