What classic Nintendo games do you still return to? - Lemmy.world

Since they announced the remake of Super Mario RPG, I’ve found myself playing the original again. In fact, I have a few classics that I still play regularly. - Zelda ALttP - Super Metroid - Metroid Prime (Switch remaster is 🔥) - Kirby Air Ride (City Trial is still my go-to party game with my 30 year old friends) - Super Mario 64 What about you guys?

If I still had my 64 I'd break out paper mario once a year.
Done this twice since Nintendo put it on the virtual console. Still such a fantastically funny and entertaining game.
Love the OG! I've heard Thousand Year Door is even better but I haven't gotten around to playing it.
Emulate it! Project 64 is great, among others, I'm sure.
I've never really stopped playing Super Mario World.
Mario World world map is like a Mario Kart track at this point. Every year we take another lap.
honestly, i'm always running so far behind on my backlog that i rarely get to replay games. mario world/mario 64 is what i replay when they get bumped into a new service
I don’t replay games too often due to life in general and time constraints. Made time earlier this year to go back through A Link to the Past and Donkey Kong Country. Considering going back and playing Ocarina of Time sometime soon
Yoshi's Island on SNES

I spend a lot of my time around classic games but man do I still sink a lot of hours into Mario Golf Toadstool Tour. The game is about to turn 20 so I've been playing through the cups/challenges again.

Shadow Mario is still one of the coolest unlockable characters m

Too many to list but here’s a few:

Zelda
Zelda 2
Mario 3
Mega Man 2
TMNT 2

— SNES —
Mario world
Zelda LTTP
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 3 (6)

Bro yes, ff3 and Chrono trigger are amazing. Love replaying them
Def agree. Best rpgs in my gaming career. Nothing even comes close to them imo
I recently finished playing through Chrono Trigger for the first time. Holy hell, what an amazing experience. Even after all these years, it holds up incredibly well.
It really is a treat. I still have my cartridge with the original save battery inside. Gonna fail at some point but hasn’t yet.
Super Mario RPG has a pretty fun randomizer I'll sometimes go back for a run in. Been a while since I have, but with the remake coming up might get back into it.
Super Mario RPG Open World Randomizer

Experience a non-linear open world version of the classic SNES game!

The classics like Super Metroid, Turtles In Time, F-Zero and Link to the Past are always on rotation but I always love to pop on Cybernator (aka Assault Suits Valken) for a good run and gun mech time. Time Trax is another one not mentioned often but is nostalgic for me.
OoT/MM, SMB3, SMW, and the DKC trilogy
The first thing that came to mind was Excitebike but classic makes me think of 8-bit. Super Metroid if we're talking SNES though.
Ice Hockey and Golf. Both fantastic.
Tetris Attack on the SNES is still the best puzzle game ever
@redsol2 I always go back to the original Warioware on Game Boy Advance. I’ve probably beaten it 5 times at this point. I also used to replay Super Metroid yearly, though I fell out of that tradition last year due to November being a busy month, especially for video games.
Super Bomberman on SNES.
The original super mario bros.

Apparently Pikmin 1 if that counts as a classic. Played it first last week, and it’s been amazing. Got the rest of the series straight after.

If that doesn’t count, I still regularly play Super Mario 64, which is one of my all time favorite games period.

Ocarina of Time A Link to The Past Mario 64 Super Mario World Smash 64
