John Jacob Jingleheimer SchmitWatching more CLANNAD: After Story....not sure what I would've thought in 2012 but feel like Tomoyo and Nagisa should've gotten married much sooner than when he finally proposed to her. If she's not college bound and just wants to be a housewife anyway, she should've dropped out of school and married him when he found the good job with the electric company. Still haven't finished so no #spoilers please.
Just being able to sleep under the same roof would've saved them both a lot of time & effort.
In 2012 I probably would've been more pro Nagisa finishing school, etc. and felt conflicted but looking at the story and characters from middle age, getting married sooner makes better sense. He was making good money and living together would save time & money potentially. I don't know if Japan has the equivalent of a GED, but Nagisa could've gotten that if it exists. She seemed lonely and alienated at school as a repeating senior.
Like I said earlier, it seems like they were play-acting at being a married couple already when she would come to his apartment every morning and every evening before & after school. #ClannadAfterStory
I have my doubts she would be able to swing by his place and make him breakfast before school but it's a necessary conceit for the story to work. Just seems like there wouldn't be enough time to...though for sure she'd get out of school before he got off work....he obviously let her have a key so she could get into his apartment & start dinner waiting for his return. #ClannadAfterStory
