I love the idea of iOS 17 detecting auth codes in the Mail app and serving them automatically, just like it's done with SMS for years, but…

Mail doesn't get new emails remotely in real time and you need to go to the app anyway to refresh your inbox to get the email. I feel like this hasn't saved me any time yet ☹️

@matt I think that's pretty much just a Gmail issue, right? Fastmail is push and instant
@pauldoesdev I use iCloud, Outlook, and Gmail and it sucks for all of them for me. Always has 😔 https://isfeeling.social/@matt/110612789266445558

Adding that people do report having better luck with iCloud accounts, but I’ve never had luck there myself either…also I’d have to use iCloud for email, which I don’t particularly want to do.

Feeling Social

@matt I don't know if Fastmail is just really strictly sticking to IMAP standards or what secret sauce it is, but I've never had a better Apple Mail experience

Got some serious Mimestream envy now though

@pauldoesdev Haha, yeah my mentions are half “Apple Mail works great for me” and half “OMG it sucks for me too” so it’s a toss up 😂

Until Mimestream comes to iOS I’m going to be envious of your Mail experience 😁
