I was just about to start recording my SFC response video and now Red Hat drops there response https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/red-hats-commitment-open-source-response-gitcentosorg-changes
Red Hat’s commitment to open source: A response to the git.centos.org changes

More about Red Hat's decision to make CentOS Stream the primary repository for RHEL sources.

@BrodieOnLinux "Simply rebuilding code, without adding value or changing it in any way, represents a real threat to open source companies everywhere. This is a real threat to open source"

after writing pages trying to convince us they are all in for open source and don't violate the GPL, they end the article with disavowing one of the basic software freedoms that is an integral part of the GPL.

@BrodieOnLinux this is not a good piece 🙁 and after getting the "oh no people said bad things about us" self pity out of the way, they reiterate their desire to kill rebuilds, not realising that RHEL is where it is today in part due to free use of rebuilds. They need a better payment model. The current one feels like a rip-off
@BrodieOnLinux so many people don't actually understand what their rights are with the GPL. Red Hat was going above and beyond by providing sources to people who didn't pay for RHEL. GPL only requires providing sources with a product. No product, no sources. Once their kindness cut into their bottom line, they started only providing what they're legally required to provide.
