Anyone have a bead on how to promote yourself in the Fediverse?

I need to shout out my revised personal site in the coming weeks, along with a lot of new writeups about past projects, and I'm wondering how best to do that.

Back in the blue check swamp there was more of a feedback loop in the form of likes/retweets. I'm wondering if the dearth of that here is due to being on a small instance??

Would appreciate any advice, please re-toot.

@zev Follow people & post organic content. When I follow people and they post the same "ad tweet" over and over I have to mute them.

Post to tags. Likewise, when you post to tags, it is like posting to a mailing list & you'll want to vary your content. Look at tags before you post & try to imagine the person who might follow such a tag.

Mastodon's reach just isn't like twitters. It is better for creating strong bonds in small group rather than reaching out to the millions.

@mistersql thanks for taking the time, Matthew! Will take this to heart.
