Feed Question Subscribe/Block Communities - Lemmy.world

I have tons of things showing up in my feed from communities that I am not subscribed to. Is there a way to set it only to subscribed communities or do I have to block any community that I am not interested in? Also, are there any other side-effects from blocking a community besides it not showing up in my feed?
