The #StopCopCity movement’s sixth ‘Week of Action’ is getting underway at Brownwood Park in southeast Atlanta today - a variety of protests, gatherings, workshops and discussions are slated to take place around Atlanta over the next 7 days
Just as the 8:30 p.m. vigil for Manuel ‘Tortuguita’ Terán was set to begin in Brownwood Park, several dozen Atlanta Police officers in tactical vests (some masked) swept through under the pretext of telling #StopCopCity protesters “the park closes at 11.”
After police arrived at the start time of the vigil for Tortuguita, they inspected the woods for protesters’ tents and were escorted out of the area by a chanting crowd as they left.
Belkis Terán, mother of slain forest defender Tortuguita, addressed a crowd with words of encouragement, a prayer and a song after Atlanta Police disrupted the vigil scheduled for this evening at Brownwood Park
Throughout the vigil and while the vigil was dispersing and tents/structures being removed from Brownwood Park ~1hr ahead of the 11 pm closure, APD cruisers have been driving by every 2-3 mins spotlights into the park

It’s such a comfort when police are trained on how to break the law. /s
