I can only agree with you. I remember spending almost an hour in a bookstore trying to get the latest XXX and I couldn't for the life of me remember what XXX was. Not only did I find it with the help of no less than 2 attendants but they also directed me to other writers like him and I discovered brilliant books. so definitely yeah for bookstores 😉

Christ van Willegen@brianbilston In Utrecht, I stepped into the 2nd hand book store, years ago. I asked if they had the Dutch version of "Gödel, Escher, Bach". "Third floor, 2nd aisle, 3rd or 4th bookcase, near the bottom". Check!

I’ll always go looking for the book I’m after by myself *before* asking the helpful person at the desk.
I most likely won’t find it, but I *will* discover half a dozen other books I didn’t know I wanted…
