@GeWilli@toddrowell Masto is OK but its federated structure limits its appeal for me. It will never achieve the breadth and depth of discussion that Twitter had. I miss Twitter (circa 2009-2016) but I ain't going back. Maybe Bsky will capture some of that magic.
@jlscx@GeWilli anyway I join you in the hope that something can bring back the pre-Trump Twitter feel. For me what makes Mastodon great is the Ivory iOS client. If they make a blueskie client then I’m golden.
@toddrowell@GeWilli I’m also an Ivory user and I like it! You’re right that Bsky is in theory federated, but clearly they’re not as ideologically motivated by that as is the Masto project. Or at least they’re not giving braindead advice like “you should join a small server [that might disappear at any time and where you’re doing to miss a good chunk of replies from other servers].”
@jlscx@GeWilli ideologically motivated seems like a good description of some of the folks here. I don’t think that's Eugen's intent for the culture here but it’s what it’s turned out to be. Too bad.
@toddrowell@jlscx I'm digging the global film photography community. Plus and minus, my feed is filled with amazing photographs from a vast numbers of instances/feds/whatever but it takes away from catching non photo posts
