Yet more stupid management decisions. *sigh* I think I've had enough by now. The nice little startup I once joined was bought 3 years ago, and apparently I'm not cut out for big corporations and their stupidity. It drives me up the wall and makes management resent having to talk to me.

I am officially back on the job market now. If you need an experienced C++ programmer please give me a shout. I don't mind coming to a Berlin office once a month, but purely remote is also fine.

(Please boost.)

I have been doing (semi-)embedded C++ for the last decade and learned a thing or two about AC and energy grids along the way: https://toot.berlin/@sbi/110485482006891285.
I've done other things before (including teaching C++), but I would *love* to be able to keep working on saving the planet.
I have mostly worked for small startups, but some of my code is used by Google, Adobe, Rolls Royce, Xerox, and other big players. Some of it runs on millions of desktops, some of it keeps the lights on for thousands of homes.

Attached: 2 images For the last 10 years I have been paid for writing code which controls AC batteries (DC batteries plus inverter) or whole grids with fossil fuel, wind, PV, and batteries. I have seen small containers with a single 100kWh battery and 50MWh battery power plants. Some support tiny microgrids, like the backup power for a small hospital, some support whole islands cutting their diesel consumption down to 20%, and some of them provide primary control to some of Europe's biggest national power grids.

Semi-regular reminder:

If you need, or if you know someone who needs, an experienced C++ programmer who's learned a thing or two about AC and batteries, understands active, reactive, and apparent power, can tell SOC from SOE from SOH, primary from secondary from tertiary power control, has worked on an AC battery controller and two(!) microgrid controllers (https://toot.berlin/@sbi/110485482006891285), and if you/they are OK with me (mostly) working from home (Berlin, Germany), please give me a shout.

@sbi
Really hope you find something great.
I thought that business might be quite conservative and less open to work from home?
Also microgrid setups might be difficult to have in an apartment? 😃

@ami I presume we are supposed to be in the office more so management doesn't look too dumb for renting another floor in the middle of a pandemic.
I told my dev head I won't come to the office for half the week. He said he only wants us there once a week. I told him I won't come once a week either. He pointed out that this isn't voluntary. I pointed out the legal steps a German employer must take to fire an employee for disobeying.
We agreed on twice per month.

I am so sick of fighting such BS.
