@troy_s As usual, I am seeking creative options rather than some ultimate “correct” method. But I’d love to see whatever research in this area has captured your interest.
@5tu It’s not really research. It’s a formulation that is closer to RGB, using Judd’s approach. There is no “correct” because the human visual cognition system doesn’t work on discrete magnitudes.

@5tu For example, place the gradient you generated on a different field, and your visual cognitive response will be **wildly** different. So different that you’d change the way you arranged the gradient.

That said, Lab doesn’t follow the basics of opponency that RGB does.
