just saw an electric "training bus" on the route that I travel most frequently 

I haven't ever seen an electric bus on this route, I think it's because it's a long route and they do a lot of back and forths so the range isn't enough for this route, but this is a sign of hope! the current DART fleet is almost entirely diesel buses, and they've been buying new ones in the diesel config too :(
