Outdoors is one of the slices of cheese.
@TRyanGregory I just read a thread of people who got Covid outdoors (unmasked). And a lot of covid-conscious people can make that connection because they really do limit their exposures and only take these occasions briefly. Unfortunately many of my cautious friends have ended up getting infected this way. We know these variants are more contagious, that one person can be a big superspreader, so .. it's very holy piece of cheese, and the holes that don't aline with its holes is masking.
@themaskerscomic It can happen outdoors, absolutely. But the idea that indoors and outdoors aren't very different directly undermines any push for ventilation, the goal of which is to make inside like outside. It's not safe just because outdoors, but it's much less risky imho.
@TRyanGregory It is, you don't have the build up outdoors or in good ventilation/ filtration indoors, or the concern from hours earlier an infected person being there. But the short range transmission is a huge factor and contagiousness. So it's either VERY spaced out perhaps with directed airflow considerations, or avoiding activities like eating, so you can keep your mask on. (I've been doing food exchanges where we don't eat there, just trade goodies, then play cards masked.
