Both terms are bandied about by people in a performative manner that just make them seem part of the crowd.
The former is a silly term by weak thinkers.
The latter is an ugly term by those who have co-opted monstrosity as a means to dismiss any opposing views. Perhaps opposing views need to be confronted but not by using an accepted genocidal pejorative. Different views aren’t genocidal.
