I keep coming back to this with more "WTF!?"

Not only did your boyfriend think this was a good idea.

But your family and your friends went along with it.

Not one of them stopped it.

Not one of them said are absolutely nuts, how can you do this to someone!?

@CriticalCupcake For me, that would have been a dealbreaker. I'd have walked out, on both the wedding and the relationship.
There's no way I could continue with someone who would make that sort of decision without consulting me.
And as for the family who would go along with it.....
