Hunter Biden has actually been a very useful case study for the difference in this country between the right and the left.

I’ve never heard anyone in my liberal circles suggest he shouldn’t be investigated and prosecuted if there’s evidence of wrongdoing. Joe Biden hasn’t blathered endlessly about political witch hunts, hasn’t insulted and attacked everyone involved in the process, and won’t make this a violence-inducing talking point at cultish campaign rallies. Because we’d think that’s nuts.

@Holberg Because liberals still think the truth has value I guess. I feel sorry for Hunter Biden. Losing his mother and sister suddenly and at a tender age. Losing his brother to cancer. Having a very famous parent. Addiction. Divorce. Harangued by right-wing nut jobs. It sounds like a lot.
@Lundemo Total agreement. I can’t imagine what it’s like when you’re already struggling with life and now you get to be the media-driven bogeyman for conspiracy kooks and angry fascists. Still think it’s fine that he’s held to account—but back to your first point, truth still matters.
@Holberg @Lundemo Totally agree. They’ve basically not been able to back up all their crazy far right wing accusations, and are being forced to settle for the guy pleading guilty and being accountable to things he did quite literally in his darkest hour. It enrages the right, who will undoubtedly whinge and cry foul, and keep trying to come at him, and to us, it just feels sad. Even the pre trial agreement seems somehow reluctant.
