For the record, I absolutely maintain that right now in Ontario is probably the best time we're going to get for a while (and the first time in over a year) to recharge and reconnect with a level of risk that will be acceptable to many COVID-conscious folks. I continue to mask indoors, but if one is going to socialize doing it outdoors is substantially better. Also, I will be honest about how I am considering and managing risk and balancing with what my family and I need.
@TRyanGregory Yeah I appreciate that you are honest about your personal risk calculation. In the context of everybody for themself, doing your best to balance safe behavior with your sanity is all we can expect from people.
@vegetables Thank you. I am not and never have been a "zero COVID zealot", but I am definitely a "less COVID than this zealot". We have to be realistic though and there are other very important factors in the world besides COVID. I strongly believe in minimizing risk and making spaces inclusive, but it's not going to be achieved by blasting anyone who only masks 99% of the time.
@TRyanGregory I totally get why people are upset. When you've sacrificed a lot for an unknown gain, it's upsetting to see people not making the same sacrifices as you but getting more or less the same gain. Sigh
@vegetables I'm talking about people who mask 100% of the time being furious with people who mask 99% of the time. That's a very similar level of sacrifice.
