If you can't willingly have the freedom to control your own server and who it interacts with what the frick is the point of Mastodon?

Bill Day@welshpixie I don't know the ins and outs here, but it seems to me that this does illustrate the evils of letting any one instance grow too large. People should be free to find communities of interest, federate, defederate, and migrate with as little friction as possible, and no one server's decision should create a wave rather than a ripple. Clearly, we are not there yet.

@welshpixie @yeri Oh okay. Yeah, that makes sense. It seems as if Mastodon Art (https://mastodon.art) is no longer blocked by MSTDN Social (https://mstdn.social) which is good. I wish there was a way to reestablish connections that were severed though.

I think this is what triggered counter blocks by other Instances against Mastodon Art (some were removed), which is already creating bitter feelings on both sides of the debate (with some violent threats being issued).
@darnell @yeri this is not why we're defederating Universeodon - it's one reason in a string of reasons and it was "the last straw' after a string of problematic stances by the admin over the past few months, but it's not that alone and we're not blocking instances for talking with Meta, as some people seem to think now because people are reading and focusing on one part of the post we made and ignoring the rest.
