So, after several years of being a two car family, I decided to sell one of them last night and go all in on a cargo bike to shuttle my kids around the city.

Has anyone any recommendations? I'm looking at the Dutch 'babboe big e power'...

I've never ridden one and would love to try one for size...

@szakib they look awesome, but not sure how I could shuttle my kids around on them!
@gerryscullion Not for all models, but for most of them (e.g. EP8, see pic), you can choose a suitable box and/or seat(s) for that purpose.
@szakib @gerryscullion I’ve taken our kids around in one for years, and totally love it. They’ve recently outgrown it. It’s perfect for one kid but tight for two young kids. The Urban Arrow is great for two (or three if small), and the Riese & Müller Load 75 is also good for two if small.
@marcprecipice @szakib Have you been on the Urban Arrow? What's that assist like on hills?
@gerryscullion @szakib I have; I don’t love riding it at all—but many do. It’s *super* practical but more “land yacht” than “speed racer” (where the Bullitt is more the latter). The way I measure “what would it feel like on hills” is torque, and UA does well on that. I would opt for the Cargo Line motor for that concern.
@marcprecipice @szakib haha. Land Yacht is perfect! Thanks so much, I've taken note of this now 😁
@gerryscullion @szakib one way to think of it: the Bullitt was originally *not* an ebike and was designed by and for bike messengers, so it’s zippy/sporty/whatev in the way that you might expect from that lineage. They were, seemingly, dragged into ebike and family usage. The UA, I take it, was explicitly designed as a car replacement for families, ebike from the start, “how broad a market can we cover.” Both good, but very different feels.
@marcprecipice @gerryscullion yeah I suggested the Bullitt because it has low centre of mass and good weight distribution, so nice handling.
@szakib @gerryscullion extremely correct. I love mine (see profile header) and ride it almost everywhere; my daily rider.

@marcprecipice @szakib I test drive the RM Load 75 and it was absolutely awesome. I preferred this over the Urban Arrow...

Anyone know what the resell value/potential is like? I can't see many being sold second hand...

@gerryscullion @szakib great!

I’m not sure, but my sense is all the cargo bikes retain value very well. They’re in demand and sometimes wait times are long for new ones.

Have fun! 🚲❤️
