My Personal BIFL (Buy It For Life) Bible - Lemmy.world

Hey there! Remember me? I’m the dude who made the post on the 600-item BIFL bible of the highest quality assortment of items from frying pans to bras to chainsaws to rocking horses to sink disposals. If you were curious about an inclusion, would like to add or remove something, or would just like to give your thoughts, please tell me! I’m in rapid pursuit of the best, and I’m willingly to hear anyone and anything out. This is mostly just so that people can keep accessing this fount of knowledge I’ve continued to curate over the past almost year now. Have fun!

Great list, lot of good products that I know of and a lot that I don't!

For the pans, I switched to Le Buyer Mineral B pans. Still BIFL, but much better than a cast iron pan though. I suggest you add them to the document.

Can you explain the difference for a pedestrian like me? Thanks!

De buyer pans are high qualify carbonated steel pans. They need to be seasoned, much like a cast iron pan. They are thick and hold heat well too, though not as much as cast iron. Still good for searing though. What I love with those pans is that they are very flat (don't no if I can say it like that), like Teflon pans and unlike cast iron, so I find that cooking eggs is much easier. They are lighter and you can still use metal utensils.

It's an in-between cast iron and stainless steel cookware. In my opinion, they are better than cast iron. I'm slowly replacing my cast iron cookware with these. They are more expensive, but worth it.

I’ll work on adding them!
