The #LabourParty's idea for community ownership of #greenenergy #infrastructure is a really interesting approach;

here in the #LuneValley we have had a community owned (community built) #broadband network (delivering much better service than the majors) for around a decade & it has been a major success.

A programme of support for community #renewableenergy (from this experience) would seem likely to be a game-changer for our response to #climatechange

Householders to receive money off bills for going green under Labour plans

As set out by Ed Miliband, GB Energy’s renewable energy projects will create jobs, tackle energy bills and directly benefit local people

@ChrisMayLA6 Not too far away in Wensleydale ewe bagged £750,000 for a series of delivery technologies. Microwace won depspite YDNPA tricks. However not long afterwards N Yorkshire CC gave BT loads of money to put fibre there in direct competition. STupid waste of money

@JohnLoader6

Yes our local project had some difficulties around funding & BT trying (and succeeding) in snuggling grant monies... in the end ours was almost completely funded by the community & 'sweat capital' - i.e. we dug the fibre conduits in ourselves!
