Trying to upload cool confocal microscopy image, but I keep getting an error message - Star Trek: Website

Error message is SyntaxError: Unexpected token ‘R’, “Request er”… is not valid JSON Are image uploads not allowed here? Only URLs? Thanks! Hoping this community grows and flourishes! :)

That is odd.. Can you upload the image to imgur.com, post it, and then I can try to upload it myself to see what happens?

I can upload my image to imgur, and I can post that, but the pretty image doesn't show, it's just an imgur link. Is it possible to show a thumbnail of the pretty picture? imgur link here https://imgur.com/a/H7KjOJ6

I was able to upload it with both an admin and a non-admin account:

One idea: microscopy image files can be very big. Perhaps imgur compressed it considerably, and that's why I was able to upload it after downloading it from there. How big is the original file that you tried uploading?

No, I just tested. The .tif format is not supported by lemmy. When it is uploaded to imgur it is transformed into a .png, so it works then!

hmm, I exported the .tif into a .jpg, and into .png, and I still got the Syntax error when trying to upload in a new post?
