I’m sure it’s been asked a bunch, but for people making the great #redditMigration to the #threadiverse , are you choosing Lemmy or kbin?
On #kbin, I can not figure out how the heck to search for Magazines on different servers. #lemmy has the cross server search decently done.
@veedems enable the top bar in your settings, then click "All Magazines". On the search bar, you can then type whatever magazine you are looking for. Note that for NSFW, you must first turn off "Hide nsfw posts" within your settings as well or it'll just show "Empty".
@BiggestBulb that seems to only search my current instance.
@veedems hmm, interesting. Boosting your original post in case someone else knows what's going on
@BiggestBulb thanks. Kbin looks more polished, UI wise, and I know the controversy behind one of Lemmy’s co-founders, but the lack of content on a single kbin instance (kbin.social) is concerning.
@veedems by keyword you mean? on my instance (fedia.io) I just put a word into the main search (magnifying glass icon) and it showed threads from relevant mags, including local, nonlocal kbin, and lemmy communities. I could click on the mag/comm links from those results and sub or read.
@fratermus maybe because it doesn’t show a server after the magazine name, I’m assuming it’s local.
@veedems Could be. I usually hover over the links to see what instance they're on. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if it showed that info up front. :-)
@veedems Seems to work. Certainly could be better and more intuitive. Not sure why so much priority is own instance. Seems it would be nice if federation more transparent.
@mastodonmigration I got it. Thank you. The search screens were a little convoluted to me.
@veedems for me it's all the same interface. I see magazines in the search results from other servers.

@smitten finally got it. Thank you!
