Floriday is still a swing state. Regrettably, the citizens there seemed to be so burned out post-Trump and then relieved that Biden had beat him at the polls in 2020 that they failed to come out to vote in the elections afterwards.

The only road Republicans have towards winning elections in almost all of the districts they win is via low voter turnout which is why we should try to promote the Democratic Party as the lesser of two evils so voting for them is crucial.

Musing the other day, it occurred to me that all the kerfuffle in and about FL, and TX too for that matter, might well be irrelevant in 10 years, because they could both be uninhabitable by then. The wealthy and politicians seem the most oblivious to what's happening with El Niño, Canadian forest fires, peat moss fires in Siberia, western US forest fires, the collapse of ocean fisheries, the intentional destruction of the Amazon rain forest, arctic ice, sea level rise...

Assuming something like that on just a ten year timeline is entirely outside the scope of possibility and just contributes to the doomism that helps to keep more people from reducing their personal greenhouse gas emissions I fear.

It's more than the South and Southwest, it's India and Australia - everywhere. I'm 80 and have studied planetary warming since the 1960s, when the Venera 4 probe discovered that Venus' atmosphere was 95% CO2 and surface temps of molten lead. It isn't even summer and a weeks long heatwave with record temps has settled over the South from TX to FL. Parts of TX are ALREADY almost uninhabitable in summer. The business-as-usual types have done us in. The doomsday crowd was right.
