Janak J Parekh@connected @ismh @viticci @imyke @viticci is absolutely right about Cupertino. It is famous as the one city in the Bay Area with no downtown. It is relentlessly anti-growth and NIMBY, too.
Don’t tell @imyke, but Santana Row is in San Jose; it’s actually *MUCH* closer to Downtown SJ than to Cupertino.
(The trick to San Jose is it’s a lot more than downtown. There are great neighborhoods all over.)
Myke Hurley@imyke @connected @ismh @viticci No—Cupertino’s much worse. There literally isn’t a downtown to be had. They do have a “Main Street Cupertino” which is nice, but the rest of it is pure urban sprawl. Some good restaurants in strip malls, but it’s otherwise the worst of NIMBY American suburbia.
You need to spend more time in Cupertino proper to know your hate is misdirected. :-)
