#Apereo Board Chair @Ammienoot is attending #OW2con and participating in their workshop on #OpenSource Program Offices (#OPSO), providing the #HigherEd perspective.
@apereo @Ammienoot Can you recommend links or papers on HE orgs that have established Open Source Program offices? Looking for pointers where I can learn more about this practice.
@mackiwg @apereo Patrick wrote a blog post on our website that gathers up some lists of them. https://www.apereo.org/content/higher-ed-ospos-garnering-millions-funding-why IMHO those that have been started so far are mostly working in the research output space, with a bit of software dev in curriculum. RIT might be most interesting to you. There’s an OSPO++ guide but it’s written by a colleague who was at John Hopkins and reflects that view.
Higher Ed OSPOs Garnering Millions in Funding. Why? | Apereo

@mackiwg @apereo I’m presenting tomorrow for 10 mins on our view of the fuller role an OSPO might play in a post-secondary environment. I’ll send you on my slides. I’m also planning to write up this trip in a blog post for Apereo and we’d be super happy to have a call to chat too. Would love to hear more about your thoughts and get your feedback on our thinking. Haven’t spoken in ages anyway!
@Ammienoot @apereo Thanks a million Anne-Marie - I have a keen interest in the concept of OSPO - will dive into the resources and look forward to having a chat when time allows. Safe travels!
