The search engine one is annoying. DDG sucks but there’s no better default alternative for iOS safari. Brave search afaik is good but I can’t select it as an option.

@mitchell209 @chrisisgr8 Kagi. Worth every penny, never look back.
@doney how often do you find yourself resorting to google search bangs? With DDG that’s basically every few searches if it’s niche topics. Brave is better but I also use it less since that’s primarily on desktop.
@mitchell209 Literally never 😁 It's also really good at surfacing local results vs. my preferred English results. And you can set your own priority per domain (basically up or downvote), filter results based on Lenses (like Programming, Reddit-only, GitHub etc.), and more… now I wish they had referral links ready, but those are coming 😜 They are building a pretty good Safari replacement as well (Orion)
@doney damn ok. I’ll look into it. What sucks about all these are I can’t set any of them as safari defaults.
God damn 25/month for search? I respect that they need money but that’s more than I pay for 1Password and that’s basically my entire life in a service lol. @doney
@mitchell209 I think you use search more every day though? Anyway you really don't need the unlimited plan, personally I have the $10/month plan but with double the searches because I was an early adopter https://help.kagi.com/kagi/plans/plan-types.html

@doney yeah that’s true. I won’t ever need more than the $10 plan now that I really think about it. Good reviews from hacker news on search results though.
@mitchell209 Yeah and you can start by trying for free. I love the UI/UX
@doney what’s your solution for mobile search? Just manually navigating to the website and then searching?
@mitchell209 Brave. Allows you to set any search provider

@doney how is the dark mode functionality? I kept Safari mainly for 1Pass integration and dark reader.

I’ve also gotten some popup ads in Brave that are normally blocked by AdGuard in Safari. Have you experienced any of that?

@mitchell209 Fine I guess? I've never gotten popups using Brave but I have set the blocking too Aggressive
