It seems like #lemmygradml is down, one of the more controversial Lemmy instances that is primarily Tankie. @feditips among others warned for this instance https://mstdn.social/@feditips/106835057054633379

maybe Lemmygrad received a Reddit hug of death, or it was intentionally DDoS'ed?

a reflection: Problematic instances are not uncommon in the fediverse, that's what defederation is for.
What's interesting is how Lemmy devs seem to be of the same 'ideology' as Lemmygrad, which leads to questions about how norms can be coded in software packages, and whether instances running on such software can (or should) be avoided
@nvraemdonck Oh that's unfortunate. The @feditips thread is a bit old, has a change occured in leadership at Lemmy dev, or is it still problematic? I was looking into reddit alternatives, and preferred the Lemmy interface over kbin, but reading this ... hmm

@jbaert @nvraemdonck

When I wrote the original thread, the Lemmygrad and Lemmy website resolved to the same IP address, indicating same ownership.

As far as I know, the lead dev of Lemmy has not changed.

They may be trying to hide their connection to Lemmygrad perhaps?

@feditips @nvraemdonck Disappointing.
