For those who have a test iOS device, what Apple account do you put on it? How do you set it up?

Set it up like your main one but turning off all notifications and syncing stuff?

@mikaelacaron I set it up exactly identical (account wise) to my carry device, then yea, turn off notifications, etc to keep it quiet. I don't download all the same apps, because I tend to full erase/install the device a lot (for work)

@ioloro gotcha, that’s what I was thinking.

Someone else said use a new login with a “sandbox Apple ID?” Not sure what that would mean?

@mikaelacaron sandbox AppleID refers to testing IAP which I don’t do (I don’t sell stuff). Where if sandboxed then the purchase tests would behave as expected, but not actually complete the purchase (take money)
@mikaelacaron separate account. Separate iCloud. Separate App Store account.
@ryanashcraft these would all mean just a separate Apple ID right?
@mikaelacaron yeah. Though if you wanted, you can technically sign in on App Store with a different account than in your device’s Settings for iCloud. But I like complete separation for testing and to prevent something messing up my personal data.
@ryanashcraft that sounds like a good plan! 😍 this is probably what I’m going to do
@mikaelacaron don’t use your main AppleID that has your personal data on it, since it might migrate that data in a way that makes it inaccessible to your everyday devices. Use a separate AppleID used just for testing.
@bobdel gotcha! Thanks! That seems to be what most do, but I wasn’t sure what would be the best way

@mikaelacaron In my case, I have a different account for my personal devices and my App Store Connect account. I use the ASC account on my test devices.
@mikaelacaron I set it up from scratch with a separate test AppleID. One of my test Apple IDs is part of my iCloud family, so I can still download apps I purchased, and share iCloud space for testing my photo editing apps with a large iCloud photo album (not my real personal one though)
@hendrik @mikaelacaron oooh adding it to you iCloud family is smart!
@mikaelacaron On my personal iPhone, my iCloud account. In my test device, my iCloud developer account.
@mikaelacaron i have a different Apple ID for mine.
@mikaelacaron separate account and everything. it's also great for my app because it supports iCloud share and I need to test the sharing anyway.
@DoleeYang nice!! Yeah this is what I’m leaning on, is a separate account
