Man can't believe that reddit, a site which for the longest time banned "self promotion" globally, even to the objections of subreddit mods, and would shadowban people for it because they wanted anyone who wanted to "self promote" to buy ads instead, is ruining itself with greed. That's so out of character

Posting something someone else made and getting all the kudos and credit: fine

Being some random person who made something cool and wants to show it off: wow fuck you if you want people to see the cool thing you made on our site you'll have to first become independently rich or famous so someone else will post it or you can buy ad space

Shocked that a site operated like that on purpose would try and squeeze the communities and third party devs it holds captive for money so they can do a bigger IPO and cash out more effectively
