Reddit had become so valuable to me for several topic-specific subreddits that it's hard to leave.

But the Musk-like treatment of the people who helped make the site popular -- amplified by the CEO's deceit and arrogance -- is a reminder that highly centralized conversations are vulnerable.

So I'm disconnecting from Reddit and seeking alternatives, hoping that decentralization will win in the end.

@dangillmor It's frustrating to watch something that functions as a public square be enclosed on and eroded by greed.

There are theoretically viable alternatives, I sincerely hope that people are more considerate with their next choice of social media platform.
