I volunteer at Austin Creative Reuse, which is a reclamation and resale shop for art and craft supplies. I primarily work to test and repair electronics so they can be kept out of landfill and resold at a low price. We process a ton of older plotter/cutter machines like Cameos and Cricuts. (I put six on the floor today, ranging from $4-$30.) We see quite a few sewing machines come in, too.

Look to see if there's a creative reuse center where you live—I'm a big supporter!

@HXLNT that's just awesome. our Reuse center doesn't do anything electronic, but i'd love to convince them to start!
@HXLNT I'm really into this idea and would love to see one where I live... What's the origin story of ACR (if you know it)? How did it first find a physical space?
@ross In the US, there are creative reuse centers in many cities. They are unaffiliated with one another but share a similar mission. You can read more about ACR here: https://austincreativereuse.org/our-story
Our Story — Austin Creative Reuse

Austin Creative Reuse
@HXLNT I didn’t even know something like this existed! I buy electronics from Goodwill or fix things for friends to keep them out of the landfill. I may need to go down to Austin to check that place out!
