So, this is great news!

Jerry Bell @jerry who runs the large Mastodon instance infosec.exchange, has posted that they are running both #Lemmy and #kbin instances:

"I have good news!
https://infosec.pub is running lemmy, and https://fedia.io is running kbin and we control them both"
https://infosec.exchange/@jerry/110527602646036871

This should give people confidence that these instances can handle the coming surge in new users:
Lemmy: https://infosec.pub/signup
kbin: https://fedia.io/register

@mastodonmigration trying to do my small part to make the world a little better
@jerry @mastodonmigration These two need About pages describing what they are/used for. I only know they're somehow aiming to be Reddit alternatives? I know I can dig up the projects' homepages and read up directly, but having descriptions directly on the instances might help generate some confidence/inspiration to learn more πŸ˜…
Switch to kbin, (or lemmy), its reddit but federated and without censorship

Friendly reminder to switch to [kbin](https://fedia.io) rather than using reddit, kbin is similar to lemmy, but it's more polished, and ran by a...

@mastodonmigration @iamkale I’ll work on adding some additional info. Things have been rather busy here.
@jerry @mastodonmigration Sorry about that, I should have waited a bit in light of all the work you've been talking about tackling right now. Thank you for your continued efforts hosting all these federated services πŸ™
@jerry repo update - thumbs fix
NIce, I have created a Julia community on Lemmy on infosec.pub, check it out: https://infosec.pub/c/julia_community

@mastodonmigration @jerry I signed up but didn’t reply to confirmation email within an hour and now I can’t use the same email address and username to try to sign up again. No big deal, just something to be aware of.
@sandhu @mastodonmigration which one did you sign up on?

@sandhu @jerry @mastodonmigration got the same issue on fedia.io, seems like there is no 'resend activation email' . tried reset password, it does reset the password but doesn't activate the account.

Expecting a large influx from reddit?

I’m a refugee from the API scandal

@mastodonmigration @jerry I should note that the actual long-term threat to stability, especially since the November 2022 migration, has not been infrastructure, but admins ending up hosting a community far too large for them to effectively moderate, burning out, and flouncing / going AWOL / being widely blocked.
@nev @jerry Sort of feels like you are overstating that issue, but it is certainly a frustration when it happens. Good reminder to do some research into an instance before you sign up.
