I make no apology for overdosing on this vintage #TOTP from 1984. It is one of the greatest episodes of all time.

Lord John Peel and Sir David Jensen host, and all the performances are live. Except for the playout, "Thinking of you" from Sister Sledge.

#SpandauBallet are back! "Only when you leave" the new single, "Parade" the album. Tony Hadley looks absolutely swoonsome on #TOTP.

Straight to #HowardJones, "Pearl in the shell" gets a cosy red jumper for a chilly week.

And look, enough #EpicSaxGuy action to rival Moldova!

Onwards and upwards with #EvelynThomas, at home amongst the #TOTP balloons. "High energy" a sorely-forgotten disco classic.

#Bananarama are next. "Rough justice" is a traditional tale of boy meets girl, boy dumps girl, girl laments her loss and doesn't give a fig about the boy.

A debut for #BronskiBeat, "Smalltown boy" with a live vocal from Jimmy Somerville. Not sure about the #TOTP dancers there.

#Wham! have the last performance, George and Andrew wear "NUMBER ONE" t-shirts. That shot of George with Pepsi and Shirlie is for the angels. ('Scuse me, it's the pollen...)

And that is that! David Jensen could never better tonight's TOTP, and left Radio 1 a few weeks later.

To the Rhythm Pals, thank you, and good night!
