Russian propaganda outlets have been heavily promoting RFK Jr. since he announced his presidential candidacy. This raises major red flags regarding Russian interference in US elections, with RT even promoting Bitcoin donations to RFK’s campaign.

These are just some of the recent articles about RFK Jr. published by Russian state media outlets RT & Sputnik. The volume of coverage increased sharply after he announced his presidential candidacy, which is a pretty big red flag regarding election interference.

The articles promote familiar divisive narratives and anti-US talking points, plus a lot of anti-vaccine conspiracy theories.

Much of RT & Sputnik's coverage has focused on RFK Jr.'s criticisms of Ukraine, NATO, and the US military, as well as his anti-vaccine activism. His public statements are often closely aligned with Russian propaganda narratives, and times, he has given interviews to RT & Sputnik. He has also made public statements that support Putin’s positions on issues like helping Ukraine defend itself against Russia.
Looking at on-air (TV) coverage, Russian propaganda outlet RT has consistently produced a far-higher volume of coverage of RFK Jr. than any other outlet, including CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and BBC News, which again is notable since he’s a US public figure and now presidential candidate. It indicates that Russia sees a use for him.
As I noted in the article, this doesn’t mean RFK Jr. is working w/ Russia or trying to undermine national security. However, it’s alarming that a presidential candidate would fail to understand the workings of Russia’s propaganda apparatus — and even more alarming if he does understand but participates anyway.
@rvawonk so he's taking shape as the tankie candidate, a port in a storm for unrepentant Bernie Bros intent on helping along whatever fascist wins the republican primary.

@rvawonk - It's clear that he can be used by Russians for divisiveness, but I don't see that meaning he's the one who fails to understand that apparatus. The more mainstream media blatantly editorializing that he's a crackpot and undeserving of serious coverage have set that tone.

Not dissimilar to what was done to Bernie Sanders. We should be smarter about the game being played and critical of the media feeding into that.

@rvawonk good Lord. Is there anything we can do about it?
@LeaBug @rvawonk The more people who realized he's a phony, the less likely he is to be effective. But I doubt that the both-sides media will cover this story in any detail. So share the link "https://weaponizedspaces.substack.com/p/russian-propaganda-outlets-promote?r=1aupz&amp%3Butm_medium=ios&amp%3Butm_campaign=post" to other places.

@rvawonk If there is a Russian angle, they probably figure that electing bad leaders with crappy policies will make America weaker. I doubt anyone they are promoting is actually a Russian asset per se, but more likely a useful idiot. Trump vs Clinton, they probably wanted Trump because Clinton wanted no-fly over Syria, where Russian naval base is.
@rvawonk If he's not already gotten, he'd be an easy get.
@rvawonk
You’re known by the company you keep.
@rvawonk I doubt his father or his uncle would agree.
