Researchers at Kansas (theregister.com/2023/06/08/sci…) have trained an AI to detect chatGPT writing when compared to academic writing. I can’t feel the results are a burn on academia though
@Patlockley A burn indeed; I feel this is aimed at me because I love semi-colons — and m-dashes… (Not so keen on brackets, however. Although, perhaps they have their place?)

@fgraver @Patlockley I suspect all such attempts-- like this-- are all in vane; a pipedream never realised.

Typoes are THE key.

@Patlockley I'm writing a report for a certain national HE body and they are strongly recommending I use single clause sentences with simpler vocab than I have used. Which I now recognise may be a liability to my authorship 😬. Life imitating algos again
@trabimechanic This is what i find funny about hallucinations or what not. An expert knows they are making a claim, a claim which will have weakness, so the claim needs to address the rebuttals. If you don't know the weaknesses, merely word relationships, then it's not intelligent, it's just statistical corpora.
