I am helping to set up an online conference modeled on #ActivityConf 2020, with talks by both fediverse software and protocol developers, and fedizens who have ideas about improving UX, moderation, funding of fediverse work and other ideas on the social side. Would you be more likely to attend if it was later this year, or early next year?

Seems there's plenty of interest in a fediverse/ ActivityPub conference later this year. People are volunteering for specific tasks, which is great.

But I don't think it's appropriate for a conference like this to have final decisions about things like CoC issues made by abenevolent dictator. And I don't want to be one. So for a conference to happen, we’re going to need at least 2 other people who are willing to coordinate this with me.

Any volunteers?

Anyone keen on a fediverse conference in 2023/24

Awesome. I’m all for regional, in-person events related to AP and the Verse. But what we’re discussing here is my attempt to bootstrap a purely online event, modeled on the APConf in 2020.

I've posted a more detailed write-up of why I think a fediverse conference worthy of the name needs a team of at least 3 core coordinators, and ideally 5-7. Also what I see the team's job involving, and how I anticipate the team working:

This is *your* federated social web, and *your* conference. Collectively, you know better than I do who the right people are for this. Boosts appreciated to help this find its way to them.
