What a coincidence!
@frauenfelder ID: the graph shows gun deaths vs guns owned. Most everybody is clustered in low/low corner and but the US of A is waaay up there in the top, very gun/very death, corner.

Looking at the nice straight graph, the main cause is the very wide availability of guns.
It does not seem Americans are so very blood thirsty in comparison with the world.

@antipode77 @frauenfelder i don't think that matches reality. I'm pretty sure most of the people I know could be in a room with 9 or 10 guns and they wouldn't even negligent homicide someone, let alone doing a proper mass-murder.

You'd need to give out placebo guns to half the population and compare the reactions.
