When a bigot uses politeness to achieve their goal, it's up to us to decide the appropriate response considering the various risk factors. There's nothing that dictates that politeness must be reciprocated by politeness.

@coachgowron Polite bigotry is akin to a shine on a turd. It still reeks and still contains harmful bacteria. It just occurred to me that polite bigotry is almost an oxymoron.
TopKnotIn my opinion, the #RepublicanParty during 2005-2015 were more or less "civility in the service of hate."
Since 2015, a significant minority of Republicans have become uncivil advocates of hate and bigotry and they are dragging more into the pigsty with them each day.
