A lot of media outlets are reporting on #ClimateChange this week bc the smoke from wildfires in Canada has settled over highly populated cities in the US.

But climate change is all around us. It’s extreme storms. Severe droughts. Flooding & food insecurity & soaring temps. Insufficient energy infrastructure. The loss of biodiversity & increasing human conflict.

Climate change is everywhere. And we should be talking & reading about it, even when it’s less obvious in the wealthiest nations.

@Sheril yep. Even if it wasn't human caused like some folks like to claim we should still be preparing for it.

The climate does change naturally but all the junk we've pumped into the environment is accelerating the process.

@Sheril this is the first time ever that this region has seen such severe air quality.

@Sheril

I agree with your statements and want to make some too in support.

It’s simply just begun. It will not go away. It’s effects will become yet more chaotic.

After much analysis (my expertise) into the science (my education and experience) data and theories led me to some conclusions that I still have difficulty thinking about or even discussing.

This is a battle royale worth fighting. We can win it. We all have to work together to do it.

@pjtn
Is the conclusion that we're on an exponential curve and that by the time the great majority of people realize the issue, it will be far too late to do much of anything?
@Sheril

@MisterMadge @Sheril

Yes.

Plus, that we would almost certainly not have the political will or allocated monies sufficient to even budge the needle in time.

Allegorically, we will take the low road and fail.

@Sheril yep. I live in the south of France, we've had a month of thunderstorms every afternoon. It's extraordinary, tropical weather.
@Sheril couldnt agree more. If we can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not already here. Today we can! #climatechange
@Sheril Ask people you know if they would give up flying to save the planet, and see what they say.

@Sheril Climare change is increased turbulence.

But I can't get anybody to boost my material about 'turbulence-proofing' aircraft.

Ironically, the same 'fix' will ALSO make aircraft EMIT LESS greenhouse gases - reducing the Climate Impact of an activity that's regularly described as 'hard to decarbonize'.

(It's really just 'suspension', which contributes hugely to the Energy-efficiency of road & rail vehicles.)

Can I persuade YOU to help me fight the climate change
that's all around us...?

@Sheril
And...continuing to promote fossil fuels requires such a blatant denial of reality by such rich and powerful people that they have backed the whole fascist movement just to maintain their genocidal business model.
@Sheril it's all around us TODAY. when you live privilege and wealth, these markers are only inconvenient for a day or two - when you live in the rest of the world, in reality, this is the fight for life daily - FRESH WATER.
@Sheril
As these fires worsen, along with air quality, content yourselves with knowing "#ClimateScam is trending on Twitter as I type this. They will sell the very last litre of oil, they will cut the very last tree. Very thankful I don't have children.
@Sheril question: how many people here bought a new phone in the past 5 years? A new tablet or computer? A new appliance, a new bicycle, or even a new car? Because the carbon emissions of the manufacture of a car far exceed what comes from the tailpipe. It's all good to educate people, but we need to outlaw planned obsolescence and make it a legal requirement that everything manufactured is repairable, and we start with ourselves and the purchasing choices we make.
@Sheril America is all about the latest bright shiny object...even when it comes to mass murders
