@forthy I know how the #GreatFirewall works - I've been paid to penetrate it from both sides on several occasions.

Also that HK - SIM trick doesn't work and whilst it's tempting and relatively easy to get SIM cards with fake IDs everywhere, I think just setting up a local "probe" i.e. #Pi0W with some extra hardware that is using public WiFi's is a mopre practical option to do so.

That being said, most clients just flatout geoblocked the "P.R." China as well as North Korea and Russia...

@forthy The only working fix to not get abused onto a barrel for "The #GreatCannon of #China" is to ban all unencrypted traffic and only - if ever - restrict JavaScript to allow-lists only....

And whilst VPNs are being cracked down, SSH tunnels ain't and like with all rules and laws, enforcement is very selective...

@forthy ...like if Beijing actually enforced their VPN ban, all foreign companies and embassies would leave the country, so they don't....
