The mom went to Lorincz's home, knocked on the door, one shot burst through the door murdering Owens

The cops let it go initially due to the Florida stand your ground laws—until public outrage boiled over

@flexghost also worth noting is that when public pressure forced the state to take action they chose to charge her with manslaughter instead of murder. Her actions as an individual are grotesque, but it's the cavalier way that our country excuses and downplays white on black violence that really ought to disturb us.

@Tweetfiction @BootyLasher @flexghost Because it will be easier to secure a conviction for manslaughter than it will for murder. Proving a murder case would involve proving premeditation, which is often extremely difficult.

@agilbertson @Tweetfiction @flexghost this is false, but more importantly buddy you have to understand how ridiculous and argument you're making. People are charged with and convicted of murder all the time, and often in much less cut and dry situations than this. Clearly something is different here - if you don't think it's race related then what do you think it is?

@BootyLasher and she literally baited the mom. This was a years long feud. She was lying in wait and could have killed the child or anyone on the other side of the door.

@BootyLasher @flexghost This is reminiscent of the murder of Ahmaud Aubery in 2020. The murderers nearly got away with chasing this jogger down and killing him until his family and the community raised a million dollars' worth of hell over his death.

@SharonGibson3 @flexghost I mean I'd argue that it's reminiscent of literally every situation in America where black people have been victimized - our police simply do not view this as their problem and have consistently refused to arrest perpetrators until they are forced. This is an obscene and blatant double standard - if the races had been reversed in this situation the cops would have immediately arrested the murderer without anyone having to even ask.
