@[email protected] @mekkaokereke I have two big HEPA air filter machines (one downstairs, one upstairs) as well as a particulate monitor. The filter machines were running on their highest setting during the California fires. I had to wear noise-cancelling headphones to sleep.
@dgoldsmith @[email protected] @mekkaokereke oof tell me about it… this was pre pandemic so I got some serious vented masks when it was clear the air wouldn’t be for an extended period of time. Fortunately for me my wife uses a CPAP (with its own HEPA filter) so air filters are just more white noise. I now consider it a drill for the COVID lockdown to come😬

note, a corsi-rosenthal box with an array of PC fans should be quieter *and* filter more air:

“Look at this. 556 CFM at less than 45 dB. That's 4.4 air changes per hour in a classroom. To put that in context, classic box fan CR box is 275 CFM at 52 dB. (5x as loud, but still beats almost all HEPA filters) This is the classic CR Box on steroids. https://t.co/3cdJa5moPz”
